Chris Anderson, Water Stewardship Technician
The Charlevoix/Emmet/Otsego Conservation Districts were originally awarded a Michigan Groundwater Stewardship Program grant covering FY2004 - FY2006, now extended. The Charlevoix Conservation District is the lead district, housing the Water Stewardship Technician. The purpose of this grant is to provide information and technical assistance tools to pesticide and/or nitrogen fertilizer users which help them identify risks to groundwater associated with their pesticide and nitrogen fertilizer use practices and to coordinate local, state, and federal agency resources to help reduce those risks. Chris as Water Stewardship Technician works with these producers, conducting confidential assessments to identify these risks. Recent development: October 1, 2010 Chris's position was made full-time and his area expanded to include Cheboygan, Presque Isle, and Montmorency counties. His hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday
