Chris Anderson, District Forester
Chris began his career with the District on October 5, 1998 through a grant from the Michigan Department of Agriculture (MDA). The grant was a joint effort with the Emmet Conservation District to service both counties. Chris provides forestry and wildlife assistance to private landowners, schools and local units of government. His office is located in the Charlevoix Conservation District. His hours are Monday - Friday (Saturday appointments available upon request) 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Chris has a B.S. degree in forestry from Michigan Technological University. He is also a registered forester with the State of Michigan.
Although Chris's position was established with grant funds, and later supplemented with DNR funds, both sources of funding were lost as of December 31, 2001. Since January 1, 2002 the Charlevoix and Emmet Conservation Districts have worked together splitting the costs of the District Forester position.
Chris Anderson, Groundwater Technician The Charlevoix/Emmet/Otsego Conservation Districts were awarded a Michigan Groundwater Stewardship Program grant covering FY2004 - FY2006. The Charlevoix Conservation District is the lead district, housing the Groundwater Technician. The purpose of this grant is to provide information and technical assistance tools to pesticide and/or nitrogen fertilizer users which help them identify risks to groundwater associated with their pesticide and nitrogen fertilizer use practices and to coordinate local, state, and federal agency resources to help reduce those risks. Chris as Groundwater Technician works with these producers, conducting confidential assessments to identify these risks.
