- DISCOVER LAKE CHARLEVOIX - Hosted by the Lake Charlevoix Association and Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council.
The 1st event was held on Thursday, August 7th at Ferry Beach in Charlevoix, followed by a 2nd event August 14th at Veteran's Park in Boyne City. Each event ran from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. ~ rain or shine~ Admission was FREE with a wine and hors d'oeuvres reception included.
Participants could take a boat cruise on Lake Charlevoix and try their hands at water quality monitoring or hear about shoreline stewardship topics, learn about invasive species, and efforts to protect this jewel of Northern Michigan. Displays from various organization within the Lake Charlevoix Watershed were set up under the pavillion. Funds for the event came from the Charlevoix County Community Foundation. The Charlevoix Conservation District shared an informational table with the Northwest Michigan Community Health Agency and distributed information on beach monitoring, invasive phragmites, septic tank maintenance, and other water quality related information. Both events were well attended.
