| Rural Residential Conservation Design District |

On November 8, 2005 the Township Board adopted the Planning Commission's recommendation for a new zoning district. Ordinance #1 of 2005 creates a Rural Residential Conservation Design district which is intended to maintain the rural character of the township along with larger tracts of land, yet allow for a limited number of single-family residential uses. These residential lots will be required to be clustered upon a small portion of the parcel with the remaining part reserved as open space.
Adoption of this new district did not result in the automatic rezoning of any existing parcel. Rezoning to the new Rural Residential Conservation Design District would only be considered upon application by the land owner.
This new district was the subject of a Public Hearing conducted by the Planning Commission during its regular meeting on August 22, 2005 and was recommended for approval to the Township Board at its October 5th meeting.

The Planning Commission has scheduled a public hearing for April 28, 2008 at 7:00PM at the Township hall to consider proposed amendments to the Zoning Ordinance.
The amendments cover height definition and measurement, accessory building setback, setback relief for small lots, non-conforming structures, and docks.
