How NICE! A big THANK YOU to the anonymous donor.
FOR NORWOOD TOWNSHIP PROPERTY OWNERS
FROM YOUR BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The citizens of Norwood have for decades approved .5 mills for fire/ems service.
The City of Charlevoix has for decades, accepted the .5 mills as payment for fire/ems service
Approximately six years ago, the City increased the fee for fire/ems service, whereas the Township had to go to the voters for an increase to .65 mills to pay the increase. The voters have approved the increase.
Last year the fee was again raised by the City and the Township had to use "general fund" monies to pay the increase. The .65 mills did NOT cover the increased fees.
We are now requesting an increase of "up to " 1 mill to cover the increased costs for fire/ems service. This does NOT mean that 1 mill will be assessed. It means we can assess what the billing is up to 1 mill. The monies collected for fire/ems can ONLY be used for that purpose. They can not be intermingled with general fund taxes.
