South Arm Township - Zoning Permit Guidelines

A review fee in the amount of $25.00 is to be attached to all submitted zoning permit requests. Please make checks payable to: South Arm Township.

All permits will be reviewed and returned after a 48-hour (2 days) review period from receipt of the application, unless other prior arrangements have been made.

Applications are available from Robert Draves by phoning (231) 536-7189, at the Township Hall (black box by the front door), or online at this website (www.charlevoixcounty.org/southarm.asp).

Applications may be submitted by mail to Robert H Draves, P.O. Box 586, East Jordan, MI 49727 or by arrangement. You may leave the completed applications at the Township Hall.

Charlevoix County Health Department approval, if required, must be obtained prior to issuance of a zoning permit.

All permit requests shall have a detailed site plan of the applicant's property with the improvements or alterations clearly indicated on the site plan. Measurements from the lot lines shall also be included. It is strongly recommended to use a mortgage survey or a land survey of the property for this purpose.

When submitting an application for parcel division, please be sure to include legal descriptions for the newly created parcel(s) as well as the remainder of the parent parcel. The application, $75.00 fee, survey and legal descriptions may be submitted to Robert H Draves, P.O. Box 586, East Jordan, MI 49727 The parcel division committee meets at 6:30 PM, 2nd Wednesday's of the month, at the Township Hall.

Submittal of a variance request, requires four copies of an application, site plan and a fee of $200.00 for a regular meeting ($400.00/special meeting). ZBA meetings are scheduled quarterly and information must be received at least 30 days before a scheduled meeting.
