Veterans Committee

The Veterans Affairs Committee is an advisory committee to the County Board of Commissioners and the Charlevoix County Veterans Affairs Staff.  The committee's role is to provide information, give advice, review emergency financial requests and vote to support,  and present proposals that benefit veterans within Charlevoix County.  Meetings are held the second Wednesday of the month at 5:00 p.m., unless otherwise posted.  Meeting is held at the Veterans Affairs Office Suite located at the Shirley Roloff Center, which is the Northside Charlevoix County Building, 13513 Division Ave., Charlevoix, MI 49720. 

Meetings are open to the public, especially to our County's Veterans,  and a brief public comment section is provided each meeting.

The Veterans Affairs Committee is composed of up to seven (7) members who are appointed by the County Board of Commissioners for alternating  four (4) year terms.  The Committee has 3 Officers, consisting of a Chair, Co-Chair, and Secretary.   Veterans Affairs Committee Officers and Members FY2022-

*If you are interested in being appointed to the Charlevoix County Veterans Affairs Committee in the future, please monitor this website for vacancies.  You would inform your local Post Commander at (American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, or AmVets) or in writing send a letter to the Charlevoix County Clerk, 203 Antrim Street, Charlevoix, MI  49720 or by email at 

Eligibility for appointment to the Veterans Affairs Committee is as follows:
1) Honorable Discharge from the US Armed Forces, or as vacancy allows (1) committee member is allowed to be the spouse or an adult child of an honorably discharged veteran or deceased veteran.
2) Member in good standing with one of the local Veterans Service Organizations (VSO's) such as: American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, or AmVets.
3) Nomination Letter from Post Commander sent to the County Clerk
4) Approval and Appointment by the County Board of Commissioners.
